Description

This is the sauce I usually use when I'm creating a nightshade-free meal. My mum used this religiously for a year when my dad was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis and had to avoid any nightshades, and honestly it really did work well. Whether she was making lasagne or an Indian curry this did the trick! I wanted to give two options for you guys as both have different colors, so there’s this version and the version with beets which gives a deeper color. You can decide depending on the dish you're making and which taste you prefer!

According to Ayurveda, nightshades cause inflammation in the body. This doesn't mean tomatoes, peppers, garlic and onion don't have their benefits. However, it is said they are used primarily for medicinal purposes and when used for the right treatments (in the right quantities), they can be beneficial. As time goes on, these nightshades have become a daily staple ingredient in most dishes and so the number of people suffering from inflammatory conditions, acid reflex, and digestive issues related to increased heat and acid in the body has increased significantly.

I don't believe in cutting things out completely; but, once I found this out I COULDN'T UN-SEE IT AND ONCE THE KNOWLEDGE WAS IN MY HEAD, I COULD NOT IGNORE IT!! I made a conscious decision to really reduce the amount of nightshades I used on a daily basis and this sauce really helped with that!
